The cows that produce the milk for our organic whey protein feed primarily on grass every day of the year. During the winter months when the weather is too grim for them to be outside they are fed grass in the form of hay, silage or haylage. Their diet is supplemented with organic cereals such as oats and millet.

It's organic

Organic means higher welfare standards. The cows graze outdoors for most of the year and when housed indoors during the winter they have plenty of room to move about, clean dry bedding, natural light and hay to feed on. You are also avoiding artificial pesticides, herbicides or genetically modified organisms, there is more wildlife, less pollution of waterways, healthier soil and happier bees. In the case of our Pure Unflavoured organic whey protein, there is just one ingredient: fresh organic whey. For our flavours we add a small number of quality organic whole foods to the whey protein for a fresh delicious taste, without resorting to artificial or “natural” flavourings. For a subtle sweetness we use a small amount of unrefined organic coconut sugar.

No excessive heat, chemicals, or additives are used at any stage, so the bioactive proteins and antibodies naturally occurring in the whey, such as Lactoferrin and Immunoglobulin (IgG), remain undenatured and therefore bioavailable so our bodies can easily utilise these beneficial components.

Why whey protein

Whey protein is one of the most bioavailable protein sources in existence. It is rapidly digested and readily absorbed by our muscles. Whey protein is also a “complete” protein, which means it contains all of the essential amino acids, in other words those that your body can’t produce on its own. It also contains all the Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) – which form the structure of new muscle tissue. What's more, it helps boost levels of glutathione, the "master antioxidant", in our bodies.
