  • Muscle and bone health
  • Supporting a healthy active lifestyle

Ingredients

Organic whey protein concentrate from organic milk (69%), raw organic cacao powder (18%), unrefined organic coconut sugar (7.6%), raw organic maca powder (5%) and Himalayan pink salt (0.4%).

Serving guidance

Mix 25g with 75-100ml of water or milk (dairy or plant based) vigorously in a shaker for 30 seconds, or for 10 seconds in a blender. A very effective alternative is to use a handheld milk frother for around 10-15 seconds. You can use more liquid as desired, though this will result in the flavour and creaminess being watered down. It can also be added to smoothies, yoghurt, bread, cakes, or just about any food or drink you fancy giving an extra protein boost.

25g is equivalent to approximately 60ml, which is equal to ¼ cup, 3.5 tablespoons, 2 scoops, or of course you can also weigh on a set of kitchen scales for the best accuracy. Many people only have half a serving (so around 12.5g or 30ml) as they don't need a lot of extra protein in their diet, so feel free to use less if this sounds like you.

Each 25g serving contains 15.17g of protein, 382.5mg calcium, 4.72g of carbs and 2.05g of fat.

Bioactive protein fractions

Bioactive proteins are a key reason whey protein is so much more than “just” a quality protein, as many of these proteins are also in human breast milk, and there is a lot of evidence that they have a wide range of health benefits. You can read more on this in our blog post here.

Bioactive protein Per 100g Per 25g Serving
Alpha Lactalbumin 7.25g 1.81g
Beta Lactoglobulin 26.29g 6.57g
Immunoglobulin G (IgG) 2.28g 570mg
Lactoferrin 202.2mg 50.54mg

These figures are based on the test results from our Pure Unflavoured organic whey protein concentrate, which we have then reduced to 69% of the total result, as this is the percentage of organic whey protein concentrate in the Raw Cacao & Maca blend. You can download the original certificate here.

Questions & Answers

Have a question?

Ask a question
  • Can you use this to help you lose weight?

Thank you for the question. We are unable to advise on whether not it is effective for losing weight I'm afraid. More protein can be beneficial if you're looking to lose weight, but not in isolation. You need to look at your diet as a whole - are you consuming too many sugars/carbs, are you exercising enough, is there a medical reason you need to lose weight, and more. We are not the right people to ask about all of this however. A registered dietitian would be a great person to speak with for starters :-)

  • Does the protein powder contain Casein?

Thank you for the question. It shouldn't contian any casein as any remaining casein would be removed during filtration, however there is a possibility that it still contains trace amounts. A fraction of a % at most :-)

  • Hi, can i take a double serving if i need more protein? If i wanted to have 1.5 servings to take the protein up over 20g per serving. thanks.

Thank you for the question. If you need the extra protein then this is no problem at all, just be aware of your overall daily intake of protein to ensure you aren't having too much :-)

  • Hi! What is the caffeine content per 25g serving?

Thank you for the question. I can give you an estimate based on cacao beans containing up to 2.3 milligrams (mg) of caffeine per gram, however it can be a lot lower than this. There is 4.5g cacao powder in a 25g serving, so therefore there should be a maximum of 10.35mg of caffeine per 25g serving. We haven't tested it for caffeine however (yet), so this is the best estimation we can give you at the moment :-)

  • Hello! If a do a subscription could I change the flavour in each delivery?

Hello and thank you for the question.  Yes, you can change the flavour at any time you like, and you can pause, cancel, or skip any time too :-)

  • Hi! I can't find the nutritional information anywhere. I would like to know how much carbs there's in a portion?

Hello, thank you for the question.  If you click on the "nutrition" circle, you will see all of the nutritional information there.  This blend contains 19.5g carbohydrate per 100g, or 4.87g per 25g serving :-)

  • Hi, is this whey protein grass fed?

Hi Hari, thank you for the question. Yes it is indeed grass fed :-)

  • What is the recommended serving size per day?

Thank you for the question. Generally speaking one serving (25g) per day is enough, but it all depends on how much protein you are getting from other sources, and how much or how little exercise you are doing. It can be worth working out your current daily protein intake to see how much more you might need. I hope that helps anyhow :-)

  • Hi guys, I love your protein, the chocolate is definitely my favourite. I wanted to ask if you had a lactose free version for my gf or how much lactose is actually in your protein supplements please? Thanks, Alex

Thank you for the question Alexander. We don't have a lactose free option, however our whey protein powders are all low in lactose. They contain 2-5 grams of lactose per 100g, and to put that in perspective dried skimmed milk powder contains around 50% lactose and dried unfiltered whey powder is more like 70% lactose, so 2-5% lactose is quite a big reduction compared to how much you get in milk and non-filtered whey. People with a mild lactose intolerance therefore often have no issues taking our whey protein. I hope that helps :-)

  • Hi, is this safe to use when breastfeeding please? Thanks

It's ok to use while breastfeeding, as long as you are keeping your overall intake of cocoa and cacao to a minimum. With the other organic whey proteins in our range it would be a straight up yes, but the cacao is the ingredient to keep an eye on :-)

  • Can I take this while breastfeeding?

Hi Laura, thank you for the question. It's ok to use while breastfeeding, as long as you are keeping your overall intake of cocoa and cacao to a minimum. With the other organic whey proteins in our range it was be a straight up yes, but the cacao is the ingredient to keep an eye on :-)

  • Is this protein tested on animals?

Thank you for the question Susan. I'm pleased to say that none of our products (and none of the individual ingredients) have been tested on animals - we would never test on animals and we would never use any ingredients that have been either :-)

  • Is Cacao and Maca suitable for a bedtime drink (I have a feeling it might not be!)

Thank you for the question. I think it is actually not a bad idea to try having it before going to bed - as both maca and cacao can have a positive effect on sleep. Although they can be good for general energy levels, it is not quite the same as having caffeine. Having said that, it is likely to affect different people in different ways, so the only way to really know is to try it really...maybe try 1 scoop and see how you sleep after that :-)

  • Is this safe to consume during pregnancy and breastfeeding? Thanks!

Thank you for the question Lucy. We’ve had a number of customers who have been pregnant while taking our unflavoured organic whey protein and we know a nutritionist who recommends it to some of her pregnant and breastfeeding clients too. However, I would steer clear of the raw cacao & maca blend, as that can potentially have a very mild stimulant effect, but I don't see there being any problems with any of the other flavours.

Regardless, I do always recommend chatting with your doctor first, as we aren’t qualified medical professionals and they will know more about your medical history, so can give a more conclusive answer. Whey protein is generally considered safe for taking while pregnant however.

  • Is there any creatine or DHEA in this?

Hi Stephen, thank you for the question. We don't add any creatine or DHEA, only what you can see in the ingredients list :-)

  • Is this suitable to be taken during pregnancy. If not then which one of yours protein powder is suitable during pregnancy.

Hi there, we always ask that you speak with a doctor before using any protein powder (ours included), however many customers have used our organic whey protein during pregnancy.

The raw cacao & maca blend is the only one we would recommend not using while pregnant, due to the maca having a potentially mild stimulant effect. All of the other options are ok, provided you do indeed check with a doctor first.

I hope that helps and thank you for the question :-)

  • What variety/color of maca do you use? Is it gelatinised?

Hi Ilias, we use 25% red, yellow, purple and black Maca (Lepidium Meyenii) varieties, from Peru. It isn't gelatinised, so it is just washed, dried at 42 degrees celcius and then ground into a powder...and that is the extent of it. Thank you for the question! :-)

  • can the mix be used for a hot drink ?

Hi Shailja, thank you for the question. Yes it can, however you will need to blend it with cold water first and then heat it up in a saucepan, while stirring the whole time to stop it from clumping. If you mix it straight into hot water it tends to clump quite a bit. I hope that helps :-)

  • Is this product banned substance tested??

Hi Oscar, no we don't have it tested for banned substances. People use our organic whey protein for so many different reasons that it wouldn't make sense for us to add banned substances in the first place. I believe very few of our customers would want to sprout giant muscles overnight or stay awake for two days straight, so I don't see any incentvie for us to get involved any dodgy adding of strange substances in the first place. As we already test every batch for the nutritional information and to ensure gluten free status, we would have to increase our prices if we were to include further testing on top of that. I hope that makes sense :-)

  • Does this contain Soy?

Hi Fred, thank you for the question. No it is soy free, though there are other soy-containing products packed at the same facility so there is a small risk of tiny trace amounts of soy making their way in the whey protein. I hope that helps :-)

  • Hi there, is this protein powder suitable for breastfeeding mums?

Hi Saira, the Raw Cacao & Maca version isn't recommended for breastfeeding mums as the cacao and maca can have a mild stimulant effect.  All of our other protein powders are suitable though. I hope that helps and thanks for asking :)

  • Hi, can I use your product as meal relacements for weight loss? Do you have a weight loss plan?

Hi Julia, we don't recommend using our whey protein powders as meal replacements as they don't contain all of the vitamins, minerals and other nutrients you would get from eating a balanced meal. We don't have a weight loss plan either to be honest. Sorry I can't be of more help on this, our overall thinking is that it is best to eat a balanced diet rich in fruit and veg, and to only supplement with extra protein if or when you are struggling to get enough protein from regular whole food sources. Sorry I can't be of more help :-)
