Who is it for?

This is a protein powder anyone can use, regardless of what your goals may be. People often use our organic casein protein isolate for the following reasons:

  • Supporting a healthy active lifestyle
  • To help keep going during times of physical stress
  • Increased need for protein as a result of medical issues
  • Lacking protein from other foods due to dietary restrictions
  • Some people just enjoy the taste and find the benefits to be a bonus

How is this different to whey protein?

Whey protein is rapidly digested and quickly absorbed by our muscles, just one of many reasons it is the best protein source around. However, if you are looking to provide a steady slow supply of protein to your muslces during the night, or even between meals, then casein is actually a better option as it is digested slowly over several hours. Both are great protein sources, but each is useful in different situations.

Ingredients

Organic casein protein isolate, from organic grass fed cow's milk.

Serving guidance

The easiest way to use our organic casein protein isolate is to mix 25g with 200-200ml of water or milk (dairy or plant based) vigorously in a shaker for 30 seconds, or for 10 seconds in a blender.

25g is equivalent to approximately 60ml, which is equal to ¼ cup, 3.5 tablespoons, 2 scoops, or of course you can also weigh on a set of kitchen scales for the best accuracy. Many people only have half a serving (so around 12.5g or 30ml) as they don't need a lot of extra protein in their diet, so feel free to use less if this sounds like you.

Questions & Answers

Ask a question
  • Would this product be suitable for mixing with coffee? If not, do you have a product that would. Thanks.

Thank you for the question.  You can certainly add it to coffee, but it will be quite bitty and won't have a milky or creamy texture.  You will get a more smooth result if you use whey protein instead.  However you'll need to mix the whey protein with water or milk first, and then pour it into the coffee - adding it directly will result in a very lumpy experience :-)

  • Do you do know how much lactoferrin is in the casein powder per serving?

Thank you for the question.  We haven't had the casein tested for lactoferrin, as this is found primarily in whey protein, and only at very low levels in casein protein.  Whey protein is the one to go for if you are looking to increase your lactoferrin intake :-)

  • Is this from A2 Casein cows? As there's many studies now linking the more recent A1 Casein to many gut and brain diseases, so it's quite important to have only A2 casein.

Hello, thank you for the question and apologies for the delay, I wanted to make doubly sure of the answer before replying.  It is made with milk containing both A1 and A2 casein. The evidence against A1 is pretty shaky to be honest, and funnily enough has been funded by A2-only milk companies, so not exactly without bias :-)

  • How many servings are in a pack? Thank you for your prompt response.

Thank you for the question Jan.  There are 16 x 25g servings in the 400g pack, and 48 x 25g servings in the 1.2kg pack.  Not everybody needs a full serving size however, so if you have plenty of other protein sources in your diet then you could for example have half a serving instead.  I hope that helps :-)

  • Hello, Thanks for letting me know this item is now available. Please could you advise...does this contain Casein Phosphopeptides? Thanks

Hi David, thank you for the question. Our casein protein isolate goes through a purely mechanical filtration process, whereas casein phosphopeptides are derived from the enzymatic hydrolysis of casein. As we don't use hydrolysis I would say our casein protein is unlikely to contain this in a readily available form. Sorry if this isn't the answer you'd like to hear :-)
