  • About our whey

Our award winning pure unflavoured organic whey protein is made with whey from organic milk produced by grass fed cows, and nothing else. It has a lovely neutral creamy taste, making it perfect for a quick protein shake but it’s also versatile enough to mix into yoghurt, porridge, smoothies or many of your favourite foods too. With more than 19 grams of protein per serving, along with all the branched chain and essential amino acids naturally present in the whey, this is an excellent source of vegetarian protein.

As part of our commitment to higher welfare farming we give 25p to Compassion in World Farming for every pack sold, which we’ve been doing since day one, raising thousands to date for this great cause. We’re also transparent about what’s in our protein powder, stating on the pack where it’s sourced along with a link to independent lab test certificates on our website, to reassure customers that the nutritional information on the packs is correct. With trust in producers eroded by recent food scandals, transparency is becoming increasingly important and we are more than happy to oblige.

The easiest way to use our organic whey protein is to mix two scoops (approximately 25g) with 200ml of milk (dairy or plant based) vigorously in a shaker for 30 seconds, or for 10 seconds in a blender. Yummy!

There's just one ingredient: organic whey protein concentrate, from grass fed organic cow's milk. That's it, no sweeteners, flavourings, fillers or anything else whatsoever. It's as simple as that.

    Heavy metals

After much demand we've had our Organic Whey Protein tested for heavy metals and the findings are reassuringly low:

Amino Acid mg/kg (parts per million)
    Cadmium <0.005
    Lead <0.01
    Arsenic <0.01
    Mercury <0.001

These are the lowest detectable levels our lab (or indeed any lab we contacted) was able to test for. For example the Cadmium test result tells us that none was detected at the lowest testing level of 0.005 mg/kg. So therefore we know that there is less than 0.005 mg/kg. These results compare favourably with heavy metals testing carried out on other protein powders on the market, in fact we were unable to find results from any other protein powders that were more favourable than these, which is great news.

Needed extra protein after removing meat from my diet

This is by far the best protein powder I have found, and I have tried lots! It's got a neutral taste and adds a lovely creamy taste and texture to my smoothies. I use it with frozen berries, spinach and almond milk. I have removed meat from my diet and needed a good protein supplement as my energy levels were dipping, I found this protein powder has really helped.

    Organical milk

Pricey but excellent. Do not bother buying anywhere else but directly from here! Been a customer for 4 5 years now!

    For a vegetarian grandchild

Great product, excellent delivery, I could not ask for more.

    Mary ..

I wanted an organic, cruelty-free protein powder.

I'm very happy with this protein powder, it mixes well in all kinds of things, adding a good, creamy texture without any overpowering or powdery flavour. I love the ethical ethos of the company and am so pleased to read that they're withdrawing the disposable plastic scoops in favour of recycled milk bottle scoops. Its great to see little companies making such effort and taking the lead in sustainability and animal welfare.

    Porridge and any fruit

    After workout

Good mixer for shake and it taste great

    Great product and service

My usual protein powder supplier (Protein Pow) were out of stock and they recommended this product as an alternative.

Great protein powder - mixes beautifully into hot porridge or dissolves into overnight oats. No overpowering flavour, no lumps. I bought a bag which came with a wee scoop - my only slight criticism here is that the scoop is effectively a disposable waste item which can’t be recycled so it might be better not to provide one. Similarly, the bag can’t be recycled (at least where I live) so again a recyclable tub may be a better environmentally friendly packaging choice - however, it might be you can buy a tub and I just went for the smaller bag first time round to try it out! Really friendly and quick customer service, very fast delivery - will definitely buy again.

    The Organic Protein Company

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review, it's great to hear you're enjoying our organic whey protein :-) Regarding the scoops, we've got some being made from recycled plastic milk bottles and these will be available only as an optional extra soon, so no more wasted scoops. We only kept them as in a survey we carried out, two thirds of customers said they wanted to have a free scoop in each pack, but the time has come for us to finally make them only an optional extra. Our scoops were originally made from recycled milk bottles, but the company who made the material went bust after supermarkets stopped using it due to the price of regular plastics becoming cheaper. It's back now though thankfully! The pouches use only a fraction of the plastic that plastic tubs contain and take up a much smaller amount of space to transport (especially before being packed, they are completely flat), so they use fewer fossil fuels, however as you say they are not readily recycled yet. We've been trying very hard to get a more sustainable packaging solution off the ground but there isn't a lot we can do for a product with an 18 month shelf life as compostable packaging has failed our stress tests after 12 months on the shelf (they become too weak over time), glass isn't a great option due to the amount of extra packaging needed to stop it breaking in the post and the recycled options we’ve looked at are very expensive so not yet possible for us to use. So this is still a work in progress, but we hope to have something more environmentally friendly in due course :-)

    Healthy Organic Protein!

Very Good. Have used it for a number of years.
